1.3.3. Testing the installation

The Batch Scheduler system was installed, pre-configured for use with the Sample Company Demo database included with the package.

The installed Batch Scheduler programs can be found in the Start/Programs/Deluxe Batch Scheduler folder.

To start any of the programs, click on the Windows Start button, then choose Programs, then click on the Batch Scheduler folder. Once this is opened, click on the appropriate program you want to run (depending on what you installed on a particular computer, Manager, Console Monitor, Controller, Agent, Alert Processor or Help will be available to run).

The Agent, Controller and Alert Processor were installed to auto-start when the computer is started. These options can be changed using each of the respective programs menu options. When these are running, an icon will be located in the system tray for each.
To test the installation, the Controller program and at least one Agent program must be running.

Step 1: Start the Console Monitor program
From the Start Menu/Programs/Deluxe Batch Scheduler menu, run the Console Monitor Program. On the user login screen enter your username and password. (For Demo, Username: SuperUser, leave password blank). You should see a screen similar to the following when this is done successfully. Notice that the Agents and Controller are shown in red. Move the mouse over any icon to see additional information about any object shown on the screen.

Also, you should see the Controller icon on the Console Monitor screen change to a Normal/Online status and any number of Batches will show as Running.
All of the demo Batches/Jobs use the Conquest - Demo Application program for demonstration purposes. You will see this program begin running for the time speciified in the jobs definition.
You can use the menu option on this screen to send this program to the system tray. When the screen is in the system tray, you can restore the screen by clicking the right mouse button on the system tray icon, and choose the restore screen menu option).
