1.3.4. Configuring for Network operation
To configure the Batch Scheduler for operation by multiple users on multiple computers (typical operation), perform the following steps to move the database to a central location on your network, and to then configure the Batch Scheduler to point to this new location.
Note: To perform the following steps, you must first decide on a location in your computer network where you want the Batch Scheduler database to reside. This location must be on a publicly accesible network drive that can be mapped to, from each computer you want operating in the Batch Scheduler environment. (Refer to section 6 for operation via IP port).
For correct operation of the Batch Scheduler environment, you must have (1) Controller program running and any number of named Agent computers operating. In addition, you may choose to have any number of Manager and Monitor programs as well as the Alert Processor program also operating in this environment. All of the Batch Scheduler workstations must be configured to point to the same central database.
Note: The following steps (A1, A2 and A3) will only need to be performed one time to create the central database.
Step A1: Map the network drive on your computer (use any available drive letter) and make the connection permanent so it will reconnect every time you login.
Step A2: Create a folder (BatchScheduler) on the network drive you mapped in step A1.
Step A3: Copy the database file (C:\Program Files\Deluxe Batch Scheduler\DEMOSCHD.MDB) to the folder created in step A2.
Note: Use the following steps to change/configure the ODBC datasource on this and all subsequent Batch Scheduler installations on other computers. After installation of the Batch Scheduler program, you must run one of the installed programs so that the initial ODBC datasource (DEMOSCHED) will be created for you.:
Step B1: Perform step A1 if needed to map the network drive that contains the Batch Scheduler database.
Step B2: Run the ODBC Datasource Manager program (Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data Sources).
Step B3: Click on the DEMOSCHED datasource and then click the Configure command. (If you do not see this in the list, exit the Datasource manager and run one of the Batch Scheduler programs (ie. Agent, Manager...). Then go back to step B2 and try again.

Step B4: On the next screen, click the Select command and choose the database file (DEMOSCHD.MDB) located in the network drive/folder created in steps A1 and A2 above. Then save your changes by clicking OK. Exit the Datasource Manager program.

Step B5: To test, run any of the Batch Scheduler programs and login.
