2.2.1. Job Details Screen

Shown below is the Job Details screen.

Use this screen to change the definition information for a specific job in the batch scheduler database. You can reach this screen from the Job Definition screen by double clicking on a Job shown in the Jobs display or selecting a job and using the file/open menu option.

From this screen, you can switch between the various tabs to change any of the component information for a Job Definition. Available tabs are: General Information, Job Command, Restart Processing, Resource requirements, Job Dependencies, Alert handling and associated Job Documents. Click on a Menu Tab to access the Job Component editing screens. These tabs are described in detail in the following sections.

A Job definition consists of the following components:
Job Command
Job Restart Processing
Job Resources
Job Dependencies
Job Alerts
Job Documents

For any job definition, you must minimally provide the Job Command information. You can utilize any of the other job definition components to produce more complex job stream and process control.

Job Restart Processing can be used to automatically cleanup and restart a job that has failed.

Job Resources allow you to logically control the usage of available system resources, such as printers and available CPU power. Use Resources to limit how many jobs or batches run at the same time.

Job Dependencies allow you to start or not start a job depending on what happened in another part of the Batch Scheduling system.

Job Alerts allow you to optionally specify an alert to raise if the job fails or succeeds.

Job Documents allow you to associate document file(s) to a job. This information can be accessed for the Job from the Console Monitor at any time.
