2.3.1. Batch Details Screen

Shown below is the Batch Details screen.

Use this tabs on this screen to change any of the Component definitions for a Batch.

A Batch is composed of the following components:
A Run Schedule,
Job Steps,
Resource Requirements,
Batch Dependencies and
Associated Documents

Here is an overview of each of the Batch Component types. Each component type (except documents) contributes to the behaviour of the batch in the batch scheduler system. Each component is documented in more detail in the following sections.

Run Schedule (Sched Tab)
Use this to tell the Batch Scheduler WHEN to run a Batch. The batch run schedule Run On Days can be defined using a calendar, run on specific days of the week, or in any repeating interval. Run times during a Run Day, can be either specific times during the day, or at any repeating interval. A Batch can also be scheduled so that it runs whenever another specified batch completes.

Job Steps
Job Steps are a sequenced list of Jobs you want to run. Job Steps are processed by the Batch Scheduler one at a time, in the order specified. A Batch can contain as few as one Job Step. You are not limited in the number of Job steps a batch can contain.

Resource Requirements (Resource Tab)
Use Batch resource requirements to indicate that a batch should not start processing until the specified needed resource requirements have been met in the Batch Scheduler environment. Such as a Batch requiring sole use of a printer while the batch is running.

Batch Dependencies (Depend Tab)
Use Batch Dependencies to indicate that a batch should not begin processing until certain conditions are true in the batch scheduler environment. A batch can depend on the return code of another batch or job.

Batch Alerts (Alert Tab)
Use Batch Alerts to specify what alert to raise when a specified error condition occurs.

Associated Documents (Document Tab)
Use Batch Documents to associate Batch level documentation with the batch. Batch documents can be accessed from the Console Monitor for a Batch in view at any time.
