2.5.1.1. Alert Details Screen

Shown below is the Alert Details screen.


Use this screen to define an Alert. An alert defines the users who should be notified when a batch or job raise an alert due to an error during processing.

Fields on this screen
Name
Use this field to change the name of the Alert. The name is used to reference the Alert from other parts of the batch scheduler system. Name can be 64 characters, no spaces.

Folder Name
Optional. Use this field to enter or select a Folder Group for this definition. Folder Groups are used to organize objects on the definition screen. When you specify a Folder Name the icons for this will be located in a folder on the Definition screen.

Description
Use this field to enter a description for this Alert. Description can be up to 255 characters in length.

Priority Level
Use this dropdown combo to assign a priority level to this alert. Alert with higher priority are processed first.

Alert Type
This dropdown combo is used to select an alert type, or method of notification. Alert type can be Console Only, Email, Beeper or Text Pager.

Alert Text
This text will be sent with the alert notification, when text messaging is appropriate.
You may also utilize any of the following substitution variables enclosed in % characters (ie. %COMMAND%) in the alert text field that will be replaced with batch specific information before an alert is sent.

Initial Alert Destinations
This set of fields is used to identify the set of users who will be notified first when this alert is raised during processing. You can specify a User/UserGroup or Alert Group. In addition, you may indicate retry frequency and duration. If an Alert is not cleared before the specified sequence has been processed, the Next Level alerts will begin processing.

Next Level Alert Destinations
This set of fields is used to specify the set of users to be notified in the case where an alert has not been cleared before time expiration on the primary alert level.

Automatically clear after last alert in sequence has been sent
Check this option if you would like alerts to automatically clear after sending the specified sequence of alerts.

Menu options on this screen
Below is a description of the menu options available on this screen, and what they are used for.

File
Save Ctrl+S
This option saves any changes you have made to the draft file. This option will only be enabled when you have made a change to the detail information on the current screen. Changes are saved into the Alert Draft file, and must be checked in to the batch scheduler in order to take effect.

Save And CheckIn
This option saves any changes you have made to the draft file and Checks In the changes to the batch scheduler.

Save As New Alert
This option lets you save the current information as a New Alert definition. You must change the Alert Name to a unique Name for this operation to be successful.

Validate Draft
This option validates the current open draft document. If errors exist, a message box will display detailing the errors found. You will not be able to check-in a draft which contains errors.

Close Alert Details Esc
Closes this screen. If changes to detail information have been made, you will be prompted to verify if you want to save or discard your changes.

Window
Allows you to rearrange or access the current open windows in the Manager.
