2.7.9. System Configuration Settings

System Configuration Settings can be use to control various aspects of the batch scheduler system operation.

Shown below is the System Settings screen.


Fields on this screen
Logfile Directory
This field is used to specify the location in which Controller and Agent processing log files.

Draft File Directory
This field is used to specify the location in which the Manager program will store draft files when checked out of the batch scheduler database..

Sysout Directory
This field is used to specify the location in which the Controller will store sysout files from completed jobs.

Document Directory
This field is used to specify the location in which to store document files. This location should be a centrally accessible share drive when used in a multiuser environment.

Default Language
Default language setting for users of this system.

User Language
Language setting for the current user.

Job Sysout size limit
Use this field to specify the maximum size of a job sysout listing that will be returned to the Controller from an Agent when a job has completed.

Ask for check-in after edits
Use this checkbox to control whether the Manager program asks for check-in when saving a component that has been checked out for editing.

Auto Update Location
Use this field to specify a globally accessible drive location and folder where the automated update processing will look for updated versions of applications. When enabled, this feature can be used to automatically update all component installations of the batch scheduker system.


End of day cleanup processing
The Controller program contains the End Of Day process which cleans up the active batch and job queues by moving active records to the history tables found in the Batch Scheduler database.

This End of Day cleanup process should be run once per day or whenever you would like to move completed batches to history, ie out of the active queues.

Use the following group of settings to control how the end of day process operates.

Next Run Date/Rerun Interval
The Next Run Date is the next scheduled run time for the end of day process. After each run, a new Next Run Date is computed using the specified interval.

Event Log Limit
Specify the maximum number of event log records to maintain in the database. The end of day process will remove old records exceeding the specified maximum count.

Keep Batch History Days
Use this setting to tell the end of day process how long to keep batch records in history before deleting them.

Completed Batches in Queue Days
Use this setting to tell the end of day process how long to keep completed batches in the active batch queue.

Remove Failed Batches
Check this checkbox if you would like the end of day process to remove failed batches from the batch queue. Normally, failed batches will remain in the batch queue until they are rerun to completion or manually forced OK.



Color configuration
As labeled, the batch scheduler uses these color settings when displaying batches in the Console Monitor module. Click on a color block to change the setting.

Configure Views
Use this command to modify the display view for the Controller, Controller Monitor or Batch Viewer popup displays.

Configure Priority Levels
Use this command to modify the available priority level descriptions used within the system.

Menu options on this screen
Below is a description of the menu options available on this screen, and what they are used for.

File
Accept Ctrl+S
This option saves any changes you have made on this screen. This option will only be enabled when you have made a change to the detail information on this screen.

Cancel Esc
Closes this screen. If changes to detail information have been made, you will be prompted to verify if you want to save or discard your changes.
