Step 7: Inventory Items:

Create any inventory items you will need throughout the system.

Inventory items are any products (or services) you produce and sell in addition to any raw materials used in the manufacture of products or delivery of services.

Use the Database Maintenance/Configure/Inventory menu option to open the Inventory Item Definition screen (shown below).




Use this screen to maintain the set of inventory items defined in the Tracker system database that will be available for use by other parts of the system, such as order entry and production.

Use the menu options on this screen to add new inventory items, edit existing items or remove obsolete items from the database.


To add a New Inventory item

Use the File/New Inventory Item menu option to create a new item.

When this is done, the new item is created in the database and opened for editing using the Inventory Item Detail screen.



The Inventory Item Detail screen used for individual Inventory Item maintenance is covered in detail in section 2 of this document.



To change an existing inventory item

Double click on the icon for the inventory item you want to change to open the Inventory Item Detail screen for the selected item.



To remove an existing inventory item

Click on the item icon to delete shown on the Inventory Definition screen so that it has a box around it (it is selected).

Next, use the File/Delete Inventory Item menu option. After confirmation, the item will be marked for deletion and removed from the view.
