1.4.5. Purchasing Manager and Receiving
The Purchasing Manager and Receiving pair of modules are responsible for managing and monitoring the purchase and acquisition of needed or requested items from external vendors.
Purchasing Manager
This module is responsible for creating, scheduling and monitoring the progress of purchase orders placed with outside vendors.
The Purchasing Manager can create purchasing orders using the purchase item requests generated by the order entry system (when needed).
In addition, the Purchasing Manager can be used to manually build a purchase order for any vendor purchased inventory item.
The Purchasing Manager is also used to manage vendor information and the products/quantities available from each vendor.
When building a purchase order, the Purchasing Manager module will automatically convert for you from what quantity/units you need, to what the vendor has to offer.
Receiving module
This module is responsible for managing and monitoring the receipt of each item on each purchase order placed.
When receipt has been completed for each item, a request for pickup and check-in to inventory is generated in the Inventory Manager screen.
