2.3.6. Using Groups
Tracker Enterprise Management System allows for the use of Groups (Location, Equipment and Employee) in the construction of an Inventory Item Assembly package.
The effect of using a group instead of a specific instance of an object gives the Production Manager Scheduling system a set of options when attempting to schedule simultaneous usage of Locations, Material, Equipment and Employees.
When a group is used, the Production Manager has a choice of objects to use for scheduling.
Use a group when you have similar objects which can be used to perform a task.
For example: Your company has 3 printing presses of equal caliber. Create a Group called PRESSES group containing all 3 individual presses. When you create an Assembly Package definition for a product, use PRESSES instead of a specific press. This will cause the scheduling system to select the equipment which has the earliest availability.
This section of the document describes the Database Maintenance screens used to create and maintain group definitions for Locations, Equipment and Employees.
